Bitcoin Mempool & Fee Guide
Dynamic Fee Calculation, Block Ingestion Priority & SegWit vs Taproot Efficiency
ZeusMix dynamically tracks Bitcoin Mainnet mempool congestion to offer optimal fee-to-priority ratios for all transactions.
1. Understanding Satoshis Per Virtual Byte (sat/vB)
Bitcoin transaction fees are strictly determined by data size measured in virtual bytes (vB), not transaction economic value. Modern address formats provide substantial fee reductions:
- Native SegWit (v0 P2WPKH): ~35% smaller witness data footprint than Legacy P2PKH.
- Taproot (v1 P2TR): Schnorr signature aggregation provides maximal efficiency for multi-input transactions and highest on-chain anonymity.
2. Execution Priority Tiers
| Priority Tier | Target Fee Rate | Estimated Inclusion | Best Use Case |
|---|---|---|---|
| ☕ Cozy Relay | 20x Mempool Base (~20 sat/vB at 1 sat/vB base) |
~24 blocks (~4 hours) | Regular transfers where speed is secondary to cost efficiency. |
| ⚡ Instant Dispatch | 50x Mempool Base (~50–100 sat/vB at 1–2 sat/vB base) |
Top of next block (~5–10 min) | High-priority transfers requiring immediate next-block inclusion. |
3. Replace-By-Fee (BIP 125) Opt-In
All ZeusMix transactions are constructed with BIP 125 opt-in RBF enabled. If an unexpected mempool surge occurs while a transaction is pending, our daemon can automatically bump transaction fees without stranding funds.
